How to find your Installation ID
To get a Confirmation ID, you first need your Installation ID. For Windows, press the Windows key and R together. Type slui 4 (remember the space) and press Enter. This opens the phone activation wizard.
The screen shows a long string of numbers in nine blocks. That is your Installation ID. For Office, open Word or Excel, enter your product key, and choose the telephone activation option to see the ID.
Getting the Confirmation ID online

Common errors and limits
Phone activation can often resolve common errors like 0xC004F074, 0xC004C008, or 0xC004C003. But it has limits. Phone activation only works for perpetual licences like Office 2021 or standard Windows 11 Pro.
It does not work for Microsoft 365 subscriptions, which activate online through your account. Also, if a key has genuinely reached its maximum activation limit, even phone activation will fail. In that case you simply need a fresh key.
